“The Craft” – The Stinson Company
January 11th, 2012
There are very few jobs where I feel as proud of as I do this one. One of my very best friends, Jesse Isenberg, owner and head craftsman at The Stinson Company, launched his new brand and website today and I had the honor of directing and shooting his video with our Check The Gate Films team.
The inspiration for this film was to offer a glimpse into what takes place behind the scenes at Stinson, highlighting an emphasis on authentic, hand-crafted elements fused with the most innovative technology and equipment. The film was shot over the course of one evening, using a single incandescent clamp light ($8) we bought at The Home Depot.

you should hit me up next time you do one of these projects, i’d love to help out!
Where’d you find an instrumental version of “Hard to Be”?
Chris Payne mixed it together to be instrumental.
Pretty dope video, guys. You’ve done a great job.
Two thoughts:
1. Forge a massive sign of Casey’s head, that can be placed in Jefferson Park, overlooking the city from Church Hill. It would be like the Hollywood sign, but more benevolent.
2. Now that you’ve got this video, I hope you’ll be able to bring in some new business to invest in lights for the workshop. Operating heavy-duty saws in the dark is not a formula for safety. Why do you think my dog has 3 legs?
Incredible Casey. It is especially cool to see how you used lighting to transform the space – I would never have guessed from the video where you were shooting. Great creative thinking.
Beautifully produced and shot. Nice work Casey. You never cease to amaze me!
This turned out incredible, guys. Love it.
Nice, Casey! I love seeing your work evolve; you somehow find a way to make each project fresh and inviting. Congrats
