Beautiful cover shot Casey. I enjoyed reading the behind the scene stuff. Very nicely done... Congratulations on the cover.

Derek, great question. Here are my settings:

Lens (mm): 50
ISO: 100
Aperture: 1.4
Shutter: 1/640

Since this was for a cover shot, I wanted to use the highest quality ISO so the least amount of digital noise could be seen. I used a 1.4 aperture so only the front of the peanuts would be in focus and using the live view, I was able to ensure that the front of the wooden bowl AND the open peanut would be in focus. This was possible by the angle the lens was to the two spots I wanted in focus; close to perpendicular.

Awesome work, Casey. Really enjoyed the "behind the scenes" look at what went into that photo, and I love how you were able to use the available lighting and a couple of reflectors to achieve the desired look. Curious as to what lens you used and what some of your settings were (shutter speed, ISO and f-setting)?
