Something a little different

Monday, June 28th, 2010
I don’t often take engagement photos of friends, but Sarah Lynn and Luke are such a dynamic couple and extremely laid back that I thought it could be a great creative exercise.  When preparing for a shoot, I only prepare my gear, not the shots I’m going to take. If I planned out my shots, I would show up and try to make those come to life and completely miss what could naturally come together. With Sarah Lynn and Luke, they showed up dressed in such a timeless style that I wanted to make the images match their vibe. “With grace in your heart, and flowers in your hair” – Mumford & Sons In fields of color Luke and Sarah-Lynn Luke and Sarah-Lynn Luke and Sarah-Lynn Luke and Sarah-Lynn

Hawaii 2009 – Day 2

Sunday, August 9th, 2009
I actually find Hawaii one of the toughest places I have ever photographed. This may sound funny but I have always explained to aspiring photographers that their job is not to photograph something beautiful and automatically think it will make your photo beautiful, you need to find something and make it your own. Take a photo that the person next to you would not recognize because you added your style the situation. Here in Hawaii I find that I don’t see many things to take photos of because there is no way for me to make it better than what I see. I drove/walked around this morning for nearly 90 minutes and did not take a single photo. 090808_hawaii_01002 090808_hawaii_00892 090808_hawaii_00851 090808_hawaii_00911 090808_hawaii_0121 090808_hawaii_01531 090808_hawaii_01571 090808_hawaii_01431 In addition, I HATE sunset photos; seeing them and taking them. But, I am trying to force myself to get over that so here is my first go at a sunset.
